Morning Moment
Morning mist hovers,
As the sun rises.
Last night’s raindrops pool on leaves,
And, drip softly to the ground.
Drip. Drop.
Birds sing.
Squirrels chirp.
Water evaporates
Off wet green grass.
The steam rising toward the sky.
Awakening,
I walk,
One foot in front of the other.
Worries weighing
On heavy feet.
Mind whirling.
So simple.
Calm my mind and notice,
Last night’s raindrops pooling on leaves,
Dripping softly to the ground.
Drip. Drop.
Birds singing.
Squirrels chirping.
Water evaporating
Off wet green grass.
The steam rising toward the sky
And, I awaken
Attuned to the pace of today.
